Vehicle Description 1968 Buick GS-350 In the late 80's the 3rd owner of this 68 Buick Gran Sport (of which they only produced about 7000 units) purchased this car from an ad in the local bargain news sales paper as what he originally thought would be a short fixer upper project that he'd be driving by the next year.
However 15 years, multiple thousands of dollars and a nearly equal numbers of hours of labor later, the car was a stunning concours ready beauty.
In the last 20 some odd years that the car has been complete, he and his family have taken her to multiple cruise nights and car shows, winning first place his first time out at the Buick Nationals in Carlisle, PA.
In that time-frame, he's racked up only 12,000 miles.
That's only about 500 miles per year.
Unfortunately, the last couple of years it has been less than that and with the fact his Dad also has a Buick GS, they've decided to pare down and keep only his dad's car and sell this one.
The car has always been a CT car, being sold originally from Atwood Buick in West Haven, CT.
As a GS 350, she came with a Buick 350 CI V8 that was tuned to produce 280 HP and 375 lb ft of torque.
She was ordered with a lot of options (see the original window sticker for the complete list) several of which are power brakes (the current owner installed discs up front), 2 speed super turbine AT, strato bucket seats, console, speed alert, the H4 Rally Road Control Pkg (HD shocks and springs, stabilizers, power steering), performance axle (current owner has installed a mini-locker), white wall tires, shoulder belts, tinted windows, HD radiator, HD air cleaner, dealer installed cowl/ram air induction, lots of additional chrome moldings and more.
Some other dealer offered options have been added as well - Kleenex holders, compass, and a center mounted 8 track player (it works but doesn't always correctly play all the tracks).
The current owner has kept this car in as near to pristine shape as possible with only 2-3 very minor issues in the Ivory Gold Mist paint.
The under-body is kept cleaned and waxed and yes, you can eat off the chassis of this show winner.
Everything on this car has been touched and restored or is new.
The main body, frame, hood, firewall, some suspension bits, engine, transmission, rear axle and floors are original and have been restored, the fenders and quarters have been replaced with original Buick sheetmetal sourced from other cars.
The seats and door cards are original to the car, the carpets and headliner replaced.
The gauges have been replaced and the odometer is not the original, it shows 99,864 miles.
The car as she sits has maybe 12,000 miles.
The current owner added a small tach and a small gauge cluster (all Sunpro) under the dash that reads Oil Pres, Volts and Temp.
This car is as near to a perfect #1 car that you can get.
The numbers matching fully rebuilt engine starts right up and drives just like new.
The owner wasn't afraid to drive her as he was meticulous about how he kept her.
She is priced at a market correct $33,000.
