May 2023POSITION SUMMARYThis position is for candidates that have completed and passed their NREMT testing, and are pending their certificate numbers.
The candidates are required to gain certification as an Emergency Medical Technician in the State of Connecticut within (3) months from date of hire.
Upon successful certification, a trainee will be eligible to be employed as an Emergency Medical Technician with the company.
The individual must accompany a Field Training Officer to assist and administer out of hospital medical care and transport sick or injured persons to and from medical facilities, working as a member of an emergency medical team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential functions satisfactorily.
Operates emergency vehicles in accordance with regulations and company policy.
Assures proper stocking, re-stocking and maintenance of medical supplies and equipment.
Accompanies Field Training Staff in patient assessment, treatment and transport within applicable regulations.
Responsible for performing various house duties at various locations; i.

, general cleanliness of the base location including sleeping quarters.
Attends company mandated staff sessions.
Complies with local medical control requirements for maintenance of their basic life support BLS certification.
To Qualify Valid Driver's License (minimum 2 years) & acceptable motor vehicle record Candidate must show proof of passing NREMT test AHA or Red Cross BLS CPR Provider Card NIMS 100, 200 and 700 certificates Proof of COVID 19 vaccine Candidate must have high school diploma or GED Successfully complete the interview process Pass appropriate background, physical and drug screenings Must be able to work a varied schedule including days, evenings, nights and weekends UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION Accompanies Field Training Staff on field assignments to complete clinical and field rotation, including assisting in lifting and carrying patients and equipment, and the safe operation of the vehicle.
Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Proof of passing the NREMT test High school diploma or the equivalent Valid Drivers License (at least 2 years) AHA or Red Cross BLS CPR Provider Card NIMS 100, 200 and 700 certificates Must be vaccinated for COVID 19 OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as mandated by OSHA Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening Must be able to pass pre-employment physical examination Must be able to pass pre-employment background check Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license Must be able to work a varied schedule including days, evenings, nights and weekends Must have a working knowledge of computers Must be able to work Full Time Hours SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSTrainees must successfully be able to obtain certification as an Emergency Medical Technician in the State of Connecticut within (3) months from date of hire.
Failure to obtain an Emergency Medical Technician certificate within (3) months from date of hire, will result in termination.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
The employee may be required to lift up to the weight of the patient, with or without assistance.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions.
The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Requires bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, lifting, and other repetitive movements associated with the transport of patients.
Must be able to lift patients onto a stretcher and then carry, with the assistance of a partner, a person weighing not less than 225 pounds.
Eyesight must be in compliance with the standards for day and night driving, and may be corrected with the aid of prescription eyewear.
Hearing of low and high frequencies is required and may be corrected with the use of hearing aids.
